Bliss was it to be alive ***

OK, so I'm still obviously on a high. You wanna make something of it?

Here's Bill Maher's post-election NEW RULES (6-minutes). Some humor hits, some misses ... a nice tax plan for Joe the Phony Plumber, a beautiful Saudi goat, and some advice for us all ...

Even though it's a horribly dreary day here, dark and rainy and nasty, I can sense sunshine just around the corner. It feels so good to know that things do change ... that we are finally heading toward something positive. Who knows, perhaps we might even flourish instead of just trying to cope, for the way in which we tackle the immense problems that lie ahead may provide a path toward greatness.

*** "Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive, but to be young was very heaven" -- penned by William Wordsworth, about the commencement of the French Revolution. Click here for full poem.

D.K., indeed, before this election, I'd sigh and say "well, at least we live in interesting times."

NOW we live in progressive times! OMG, I'm still on a high too.

I saw this Friday night but please tell me this includes the head exploding clip 'cause I've been trying to find that....

oh what the hell I'll just watch it again, it was hilarious.

Oh that was brilliant. Now I'm trying to remember who showed the video of the FAuxNoise newsroom folks head exploding when Obama was announced winners, it's so funny...

Helen, I saw that exploding fox-head vid somewhere, but where? It was perfect, a long shot so no one's face was clear & then their heads popped one-at-a-time as the election results came in. Maybe it was on Stewart or Colbert?

On Maher, I almost died when he brought up the special tax bracket for Joe the Prick. And his tax own form, the 1040FU! I still almost lose it when I think about it! Jeez did that guy make me ill.

But yeah, I can't help it, I'm so happy about this election, I'm actually being civil to my neighbors (even though they all voted for McC & think I'm an asshole for putting out an Obama sign).

Ha ha!!! It must have been on Daily Show - I am getting everything all mixed up!

It must be difficult to not gloat at the neighbors. I would.

Wow DK! Thank you for posting that poem... so full of anticipation for the triumph of truth and hope... so grand in the scope of inclusiveness and fulfillment of a rebirth of reason... Thank you.

Helenwheels: that clip you seek is Real Time: Fox News Reacts To Obama's Election Night Victory ... although i have had trouble getting it to play tonite :(

I saw a newsclip on tv tonite that related the nearly immediate, but cautious, change in attitude and anticipation of a different US from a number of places around the world that Obama's election has wrought. One american expat, near tears, said "This is the first time in 8 years that i have been proud to be American"

me too...

Namaste

You are so helpful! I hope Helen comes back to see the clip. she was right, it WAS on Bill Maher! And oh, I'd never heard of that Joe Queenan guy before seeing him on Maher & hope I never do again. What a marrooon he was.

I love that poem, so full of hope! Just because things didn't immediately turn out quite as lofty as envisioned at the beginning of the French Rev is no reason to diss the achievement (as Maggie Thatcher once did). I read somewhere that Wordsworth became disenchanted with the violence & Napolean of course, but then he didn't live long enough to see that it eventually turned out well.

Oh my~ Some good laughs there.
I bet ol' joe-the-plant is cringing about his 15 minutes of fame.
Not only is he in trouble for being unlicensed, but he may have put his employer in jeopardy.

I love his list 'o atrocities that unless the new candidate crosses those lines..... STFU

Seriously!

Joe thinks he can run for congress in 2010! Guess he's not done hosing the voters yet.

That was excellent! It is nice to feel positive for a change and to be proud of being American. The entire world will be proud. He will not disappoint. He knows how to lead. He knows a good leader is only as good as the people he or she surrounds themselves with.

Bill M. has some very good writers and a good delivery style. Wish he was less sexist sometimes, though.

Maria: Sometimes I take offense over his marriage barbs. He seems to think just because he is not the marrying kind that no other man is either. Newsflash for Bill: married men live longer than unmarried men, even with their supposedly (in his view) less healthy dietary habits of eating twinkies. I think too many years in the hot tub with too many babes & jays have distorted his POV on that issue!
