Alan Rickman is better than christmas

DivaJood and I have a little friendly rivalry over who gets to take Alan Rickman home. Very well, Diva, I will concede him to you for the nonce, as The Sheriff of Nottingham from Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves (turn this one up, the sound is low):

Rickman is so versatile. But I have to say, I particularly love him as the bad boy.

Now for both Diva and Enigma, here is Alan, The Magic Man:

lots of Harry Potter scenes ... Hot-cha-cha!

I am a natural blonde, and I'm short. Does that help my chances?

DK, have you never seen "Truly, Madly, Deeply"? Brilliant.

***** I just looked up pics of Rima Horton, Rickman's longtime relationship. Being short helps, Diva! She's dark-haired, kind of pageboy cut, but in some pics, she has red-highlights, Enigma. hmmmm ...

Diva: Right now, "T,M,D" isn't ringing a bell. Oh wait, hub reminds me it's the one about a ghost? Well now, I guess I MUST see it again!

Just recently re-saw "Galaxy Quest" and realized Rickman is the best thing in it (so hard to achieve that level of ennui). I even liked him in "Love Actually" though he treated Emma Thompson so badly (and hub is truly, madly, deeply in love with Emma).

TMD is out of print, but since Anthony Minghella just died, they might re-release it. It's like "Ghost", only better. Smaller. Intelligent. Funny. Sad. And Galaxy Quest is absolutely hilarious - I love the scene where Rickman's on the phone with Sigorney Weaver, only he still has that stupid fake forehead on while he searches for the beer in the fridge.

But I really really like his work on behalf of Amnesty International, such as the 1991 film, Closet Land and the Comedy Master Class I posted yesterday.

He also co-edited the words of Rachel Corrie, a young woman who was killed in Gaza on March 16, 2003 - and turned the words into a one-woman play, My Name is Rachel Corrie. I will be posting about it once I finish reading it. It's a tough read, because it is quite emotional.
