Watching and Waiting, New Hampshire

Do you find when you're watching and waiting for something, that everything you see reminds you of it? Today I am watching and waiting for results of the New Hampshire primaries. I'm also flipping through the latest "National Geographic Expeditions" Travel Catalog. The strangest connections occur while viewing their wonderful animal photos:

John McCain looking for the "independent" NH voters?

Four little repub-birds sitting in a tree:
Why is Rudy yellow, asked the red three.
Because he shouts 911 constantly.
Nine Eleven's pretty scary,
Echo Fred and Mitt and Huckabee.

Live Free or Die ...

Ready, Set, Let's Go Vote NOW!!!

at least one candidate's face upon hearing New Hampshire primary results (this is not quite fair as I find the 'drill very handsome -- except for the beady little eyes)

Now, maybe I just have an overly suspicious mind, but I find the timing of this news story a bit coincidental. Oh but who might benefit from this type of incident on an election day? Who, indeed. Later, some newscaster said the boats were probably Iranian Republican Guard. Aaah yes, the group we have officially classified as terrorists. How convenient for the echo chamber. Now it all makes sense. Time goes by so slowly when you're waiting for real news ...

DK that is an insult to those beautiful birds !!! ..lol they have more intelligence than all the rethugs put together ..

what an exciting day it is !

yeppers..and yeah all the Iranian stuff is just to much of a coinky dink now isn't it. The politics of fear had better be ending BUT i put nothing past these people in their greed and desire to hold onto all the power...

DK, you should be ashamed comparing that poor baboon to Hillary! ;-)

Great minds on the attack. I suspect it is a false flag, given the Bush/GOP record for misrepresenting the facts, and I posted it this morning.

PProg: I know, I felt bad about assuming those birds were repubs. I was just trying to penetrate their teensy little brains & happened to associate that with a pic of macaws!

TomCat: LOL! When I first put this up about midnight, I had mentioned Hillary's name on that pic ... but then I had second thoughts, mainly because it is a MALE mandrill & I didn't want to make that insinuation. But if the beady little eyes fit, well ...

Oh and I mistakenly called the "provocative" boats Iranian REPUBLICAN Guard when they are actually called Iranian REVOLUTIONARY Guard. Freudian slip?

Well..... with 75% reporting they are calling Hill the winner by a 3% margin. How can they do that, with 25% not yet counted?
Election Voodoo counting methods?
Oiji board?
One of those magic 8 ball gizmos?

But NH also selected McCain as their guy, so what does that say about New Hampshire?

Ahhhh the election year is young, and we must pace ourselves.

I can watchthe final results online while watching the Absolute Zero documentary.

I would love it if the numbers flipped & the AP & CNN had to retract their projected winner declarations.

Oooh! With 88% reporting a 2% difference between Hill & Obama.. Nail biter!

Hey Fran, thanks for checking in! Unfortunately, I cannot multi-task as the computer is far away from the TV rm. But, I have some odd post-game observations:

The Dem percentages stayed pretty much the same ALL NIGHT. To me, this is strange because you'd think as different areas (rural vs urban vs colleges) reported, the %s would've flipped a bit.

CNN was all hot to report the unreported college precincts which were the last precincts to report. Now that's a question by itself. Beyond that, at some point they obviously DID report & yet CNN never put it up to analyze like they had done with all the other precincts/regions.

What happened to Obama's polled double-digit lead? Do people purposefully lie to polltakers, do they really change their minds at the last minute in the voting booth, or did many of them not vote at all?

In a state whose voters are 45% Independents, the indies obviously went for McCain, not Obama. To me, this means NH Independents are 1) more repub leaning, and 2) still in love with McC since 2000 when he put the fear into GWB.

If I hear any more talking heads telling me women went for Hillary because she choked up, I will puke. The only sympathy I had for her was when the Obama & Edwards supporters refused to shake her hand. Bad sportsmanship, I thought, and indicative of her divisiveness.

Bill C talking about "fairytales" may have helped her, yes, somewhat ... but jeez, from a guy who pretty much ran on HOPE himself in 1992, I expected more.

To me, this was only an indicator of how rough it's going to get over the next month. All in all, I think we put way too much stock in the first few primaries. Super Tuesday is the key.

PROUD PROGRESSIVE: If you check back here, wanted to let you know your site has been DEAD all morning. Intriguing title "A Toolkit for Revolution", but all blank after that. Hope it's just a glitch, nothing more. I'll keep checking back. I need that toolkit!

DK, I have a US navy pic up today of one of those boats. There's no evidence of armament. My guess is teenagers acting up, because the boats were outboard speedboats.

Tomcat: maybe the white boxes they threw overboard were cases of beer that they didn't want their parents to find? When I saw the little boats, I was thinking contraband runners, hmmm, maybe rum runners. I appreciated your thoughtful post on it, comparing to the Gulf of Tonkin, the excuse to expand wartime prez powers. I hope the attitude of Adm Wm Fallon, CENTCOM, permeates down to those Naval ship commanders. Remember he's at odds with Patreaus & Bush & has ordered his people to stop using the Gates-promoted term "long war" because he wants us out ASAP.

Oh my....the irony...

Anyways....I love the National Geographic animals...esp McCain as a turtle..

hey lady...i'm back

and with peak oil knowledge...screw the primaries...

people will do what people will do for the continuation of their lifestyle - and until their finite resource becomes scarce (20 bucks for a gallon of gas or more) they will not care about anything..until they can no longer afford cable, they will not wake up

so i sit back and figure out a way to make my own bio-diesel, grow my own food, create sustainable neighborhoods, harvest my own water - well you get the idea...

Enigma: yup, the timing was a very neat trick. and I DO think it may have affected some NH Indies to vote McCain. That is one theory I haven't heard the news pundits positing to explain their bad polls. If Rudy had more support there, it would've helped him. But McC is their darling.

AZ: You are a one-woman font of info on self-sustaining ideas! Yeah, all this time & money going toward wrestling out the final drops of oil. Who gains from the prices those final drops will cost us? Who, indeed. We put a couple of big-oil men at the top of the country & then wonder why there aren't any alternative energy inducements? Our own grandparents could tell us a thing or two about how to live without oil. It wasn't that long ago & it wasn't that hard.

Now even the Navy admits that the radio message was not from the boats.
