Wexler Live on Blog Talk Radio tonight!

BUT FIRST, news from the sicko:

Oh no! I returned from the family pre-xmas trek late last night, feeling pretty sick. Probably something I picked up a few days ago, now manifesting as the flu from hell. All I know is by 2AM, I was thinking it would be so nice to just consign myself to a coffin somewhere. That was the fever speaking. Fever and stomach cramps. By 4 AM, when the fever broke & the tremors began (the kind where your whole body feels like a high tension live wire), I was a bit delirious. Becoming obsessive over the idea of a cool sip of water, I managed to part my clenched chattering teeth just enough for a couple swallows. A barfing bad idea! Now I know what a rabid dog must feel like. Finally fell asleep after 6 AM & woke up feeling like I've gone 10-rounds in a bantam weight boxing match. Bedrest and liquids (what I can keep down), and oh how I wish I could take an aspirin for this throbbing headache. But I don't want to tempt fate & have settled for a cool cloth laid across my brow. No one is allowed in my vicinity without a germ mask, I am TOXIC, I tell 'ya.

That's why finding this email from Rep. Wexler in my inbox today (copied below) was so important to me. It might be just the Rx I need. Wexler's call for impeachment hearings for Vice-President Cheney and the signatures he has received for his petition are an inspiration for all of us to keep pursuing justice and accountability. The media blacklisting of his efforts has not deterred him one whit. And tonight, Thursday Dec 20th, he will be live on Blog Talk Radio at 9PM (EST), 6PM (PST). If you haven't already signed his petition, click here to do so. I will be listening to him online tonight, coughing & sweating on the computer, knowing that while *I* will recover soon from this nasty flu bug, America may not find it so easy to recover from this administration's crimes and cover-ups. My thoughts about the program will be in the comments, if you're interested.

OK, I've been trying to log on to the Blog Talk Radio site for 10-minutes now. Unsuccessfully. I hope this is a good sign, a sign that they are being swarmed with so many interested people, that their server couldn't handle the traffic. I'll keep trying since the show is supposed to be about an hour-long.

This is what the Florida Progressive Radio news site just put up:

"For those who are planning on participating in the radio show, this is how it will work…

"Go to http://www.blogtalkradio.com/fpc to listen to the show. If you are interested, you can call in at (646) 716-7543. This is not a toll free call, so make sure you check your calling plan. Because of the limited number of phone lines, we won’t be able to take calls before Congressman Wexler goes off the air. After that we can take callers.

"If you call in for any reason, make sure to turn down your radio so we don’t get feedback or an echo effect.

"If you miss the show today, it will be archived on the web site and you can listen to it later as streaming audio."

Yeaaay, just found a connection at:

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/fpc/2007/12/21/The-Wildcard

It's not a very good connection, but the show is in progress. Wexler is addressing that Nixon faced a bi-partisan impeachment. But now we are not only fighting repubs, but fellow dems to proceed with impeachment.

OK, yes indeed there will be an archive of this program, online in about an hour at:

Wexler addressed many issues. Here are a few notes:

We are in great danger of undoing the Balance of Power between the congress & executive branch. The prez/veep think congress' role is to agree with them.

Don't believe that impeachment would hopelessly tie up the congress. There's no reason they can't do more than one thing at the same time. Impeach hearings would NOT shut down congress OR the admn.

We don't have to follow the repub course in Clinton's impeachment. That was badly handled, it trivialized & frivolously used the const provision for impeachment. But note the repubs didn't have to conduct petition drives & online begging to impeach Clinton. They just did it, because they marched in lock-step, something dems don't do. And be prepared, if impeachment hearings begin, they will be unfairly portrayed by the MSM & repubs as "obstructionist".

This will be a huge uphill battle. Write/email approp Judicial Committee members to proceed with impeachment hearings.

What about Pelosi? contact your local congresspersons to put pressure on her.

Thanks for the update, my dear sicko friend..... glad we have cyberspace to avoid contagion. I'll love ya from a distance- OK?
Why would I contact my congressperson to put pressure on Nancy Pelosi?

Here is her website:

http://speaker.house.gov/contact/

Here is her contact info:

Office of the Speaker
H-232, US Capitol
Washington, DC 20515
(202) 225-0100

The above link is where to go to e mail her.

Tell her in your own words.

I mean Nanc, as I like to call her, that is why she makes the big bucks, right?
We need to come to the collective table & get our priorities in order.

As for the Balance of Power- I have not even heard that phrase mentioned in over 7 years, it seems.

Far as I can tell, Congress IS already hopeless.
Unless wielding the power of the approval stamp for billions for more war is considered productive.

Thanks for the update.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

ps~ love the label!

Fran, I think Wexler was saying that Pelosi doesn't seem to be affected by citizen contact ... well, maybe if an avalanche of emails fell on her, otherwise, she is purposefully blind. But if her fellow congressfellows start putting heat on her ...

I know, "Balance of Power" already seems lost & yet he was talking like it's not a completely lost cause (yet) ... maybe a bit of a rah-rah radio moment. Don't forget, I had a bad connection, so my scribbled notes may not be completely accurate.

ps, that french label made my day!

I appreciate you taking notes, because by the time I tried to log on to the blogcast, it was not happening. I'm glad Wexler feels like there is still a thread of the notion of Balance of Power. It has just been so long (too long) since I'd even heard of that concept.

Of course we could contact Nancy in both ways-- and really, after you said it that way.... that she is not affected by citizen contact, makes me want to launch a huge campaign to Contact Nancy P.

Without citizens she;s out of a job.... so I vote yes on the avalanche of contact.
I want to hang on to that thread of hope.
But I have to say that mysterious fire in Cheney's offices has me wondering if there was a correlation of the petition to impeach reaching 100,000+ and a fire in his offices.... in the only buildings that don't have a sprinkler system. So many documents could have been damaged.

They better get a forensic restoration expert in there ASAP, or damning evidence could be lost forever. Bush & Dick walked oer & shook the hands of the firefighters after the incident.

Are they plotting to replace, *I don't recall* with "sorry, it burned in the fire, shrug".
What's that awful smell? Burning evidence!

Stranger things have happened.

Fran, re: the mysterious cheney fire ... I suspect Fawn Hall has finally found suitable employment!

Tomcat of Politics Plus has an excellent post on it titled, "The Dog Burned My Records" (from 12/20/07).

ps, someday, SOMEDAY, I will get a blogroll up. I think I even know how to do it, just gotta find the time.

Red, happy Christmas to you and your Brooklyn bloke. I'm on mental holiday for a few days, be back before New Years responding to some of your thoughts.
Take care and have a great time. Cheers

Oh dear friend I am so so sorry you are sick....there is nothing worse than being sick at Christmas....I hope you are okay....I too listened into the Wexler Radio program...he pointed out some important differences between this and Nixon and the Clinton Impeachment hearings....it was good, I like that he said that congress and the senate have not be listening to the people- nice to hear someone finally admit that....

About Pelosi- I have now started calling BOTH offices- DC and Homebase and then followup with emails and letters...I admit I have not written her in awhile, about impeachment I write to Conyers....

I am so tired of waiting for something to happen...

I thought the Fire was really odd- they didn't even look concerned- they looked like they were at a parade- that office is full of very important history....and there they stood....all cheery and chummy....disgusting....great add Arson to their cirmes list....would that shock anyone at this point....nope.

Cartlege, mental holidays are the best! Sending cheer your way ...

Enigma, I'm sure I'll be fine for christmas. I'm already MUCH better. I found listening to Wexler to be very uplifting, a good holiday tonic. Apparently, the people's voices will have to reach Krakatoa proportions before Nancy hears us. I haven't written to her or Conyers in awhile, but am now ready to start again. I do write to Harry Reid, mainly because I find his canned responses so hilarious.

You're right about no one looking the least bit concerned over that fire. I noticed that, too, everyone was out yucking it up with the firemen. They said flames were confined to a closet, but a the whole floor was water damaged, if nothing else, vintage furniture & antique flooring destroyed. No one looked the least bit concerned over the loss of history.
