Bring Them Home Now

I had a powerful waking dream today.

They were all back home, all the Fathers and Mothers, the Sons and Daughters, the Sisters and Brothers.

They were no longer the same as before we sent them away, but they were finally back home. We gave them a heroes welcome, even though some of them knew they weren't heroes. We treated the wounded in body as well as the wounded in mind and spirit. We promised them that their sons and daughters would never be sent and spent like this again, and we meant it. We gave the kind of love a caring society gives, the whole-hearted love that comes when people share a common dream. We had so much love, we held public funerals for the dead. Then we as a nation started to heal. And a funny thing happened. As we were healing, other nations also began to heal, even ones that had sworn enmity in their hearts. Pretty soon, the whole earth started healing. And it all started when they came back home.

Bring them home now!

Jefferson Airplane 1967 "Comin' Back to Me" ...
5.2 minutes:

This has always been a tearfully emotional song for me.
I close my eyes and listen with my heart.

really beautiful post and video...and powerful song....from another era of war....

You filed it under Don't Close Your Heart....and I hope and pray that people are thinking with their Hearts and minds, with eyes wide open...this is a critical year...the Future of so many is in Our Hands...all of us..

We are the Midnight Bloggers....In 1776 Paul Revere and his gang printed a Midnight Newspaper ( he didn't just make pots he was an engraver...and for those that could not read, he made Cartoons)...and then he rode from home to home taking the News...the Words...The Voice of Change and Freedom....Throughtout History there have been these brave souls Spreading the Truth...In WWII there was the Underground, the Resistance in France....and in this Era...It is Us, the Bloggers and the Internet Newspapers....

We are all we've got....

But remember that...it means that over in Iraq...there are our Sisters and Brothers counting on Us to get them HOME....and there Homeless here that are counting on us to Make Changes and Help them get a better Life with better Leadership...

It is Time for the Buscho Animal Farm Regime to come to an End....

It is time for All of us, to have Courage and Hope...

So that this time Next Year...the Dream you had...will be Our Reality....

Namaste Brave Patriotic Woman....

D.K. - I loved this album, this song. It was a great tribute to the time.

Today's newspaper headline was about a soldier just returned from Iraq but a few days ago. Allegedly DUI, he plowed his car into the back of a 19 year old girl's stopped at a red light. Result: He killed her and is now in jail under $150,000 bail.

I loved that album. I loved that song.

What a contemplative song. What a lovely dream.
It is gutwrenching to see clips of war zones. I can barely stand to watch them, let alone what that must be like to live it.

Dada: What a sad double tragedy. Two lives lost really. The DUI soldier was probably self medicating to try to forget the nightmare in Iraq.

War really is hell.

How I wish your dream could come true.

Enigma: thank you for reaffirming my basic faith in humanity. I was flagging pretty low after Bhutto. And I really was feeling the eyes of all those soldiers looking at us, waiting for us to end this nightmare. Over 1,000 US troops (and who knows how many private contractors, let alone iraqis) died there this year. That's 1,000 dead soldiers & marines who didn't have to be there at all after the new congress we elected took power -- the congress that can't seem to figure out how to end this war, when it is THEIR constitutional power to de-fund it.

aaah, the Bushco Animal Farm Regime! Yes, they are surely the pigs who pretend to be humans & scare all the other animals into obedience while they enjoy the best fruits of others' labors. I vividly recall the scene where they began to walk on two legs. I picture them having faces much like Cheney, explaining that some animals are more equal than others!

Dada: that song has ALWAYS haunted me. The slow lead-in, the voice almost breaking with too much emotion at certain points. So sad that I have to think of it in regards to homesick soldiers & their families. But I do. And I do want them home now, even if many of them will be mentally f*cked-up for quite awhile, hence causing the kind of accident you cited. They are ours, our problem to deal with. Let the iraqis find their own way out of this mess. We've got to heal ourselves, all of us. And my dream tells me it starts with getting them back home.

Fran: there was another youtube of this song featuring old pix of Jefferson Airplane that might'be been easier to watch, but I wanted to make it clear WHO it is I want to come home now. I know it's currently a pretty hopeless dream. Still, I keep my heart open to the possibility, even knowing that dealing with the aftermath will be much harder than the simple-minded neocon middle-east power grab was. It's always much harder to DEAL with people than to drop bombs & bust heads. cowardly bushophants always go for the big-bang, never worrying about the mop-up. guess that's what WE are for, we're the clean-up crew, the toilet-scrubbing maids in the playgrounds of the silverspoon frat boys.

Deke... I lived that dream last night in the Sweat Lodge. The same spirit of which you speak is in the thoughts, prayers and positive affirmations of our thoughts, put into the pipe and sent away for the Creator to hear. For that time, there was peace on earth in that circle. Even though the war wages on and in reality it is a crappy world for most, we imagine everyone feeling as we do in the lodge. It is only a fleeting time, like your dream, but we have the experience.

Incidently, when Leonard Peltier gets to go into the Sweat Lodge, he feels he is free as soon as he crawls in, even though he is in prison.

Happy New Year and of course, Peace to all in the universe.

What a wonderful dream. We can come close if we choose right.

The GOP wants to invade six other countries, too.

Hillary is for ending the war, but wants to leave enough combat troops to continue offensive operations.

Obama is for ending the war, but wants to leave enough combat troops to conduct operations against al Qaeda.

Edwards is for ending the war and wants to remove all combat troops and keep only 3,000 security troops to defend our embassy and protect humanitarian workers.

Who is right for America?

Spado: from your Pipe to the Creator's ears -- I like that! I left you a few comments at your place today. Seemed like a good way to start the year.

Tomcat: you are asking the right question -- in a few days, we will know if Iowans were listening. Only a few weeks from now, we will be stuck (for better or worse) with the winner of those early primaries. You KNOW I think Edward gives people something to vote FOR, rather than against.
