Oh dear, moving day is (almost) here!

I HATE MOVING.

I have been sorting and boxing for the last few weeks and marveling how one house can hold so much stuff. My hands are full of papercuts, my lungs are full of dust, and my spine is being held together with box sealing tape. I am frazzled and cranky and think that bitch, the moving fairy with her magic moving wand, must be spending too much time with the tooth fairy cuz she sure as hell hasn't shown up at my house. At this point, my biggest joy comes as I finish packing another box o' worthless crap and can inhale the fumes of a magic marker for the few brief moments required to label it. BTW, the red magic markers stink so I'm sticking with blue (just like politics).

I hate moving.

Moving Day is still a few days away, but our computer will have its lifeline rudely yanked tomorrow.

I hate moving.

If our last move is any indication, I won't be back online for about a month.

I hate moving.

But I will love settling into our new home!

Hope to be back online and maybe even blogging again soon...

Hi Annette, good to see ya! I hate being MIA and would love to be back in action soon. Building this new home has been a life-sucking experience. It didn't help that our computer had a death-panel consultation in the middle of everything and will need a total intestinal replacement after we move. I hate moving!

Happy Moving Day!

Good Job! iam excited for you, getting to find where to put what in its perfect spot. it took me nearly as long to build a bathroom (inside unfinished) and a new roof as it did you to have a house built.

as i started with apple and took a 25 year sidetrip onto the Windows track, it feels great to be a mac user again. replace the innards of your pc that way. you'll love it.

Thanks, Mr Ball ... I hear you about Mac but anything related to our computer will be EK's decision. He's the one who has to take care of it. I am merely a "frustrated user".

Hey you deserve much credit ... adding a bathroom and roof to an existing home is not easy, especially if you are DIY. Only thing worse is redoing a kitchen, the "nerve-center" of the home that when it's disrupted, causes misery for everyone!

Good luck, hope your move goes smoothly! I'm with you - I hate moving! (We've lived in our same house for 22 years now).

Happy New Year!

Maui, we have moved 4 times in the last 22 yrs alone! This one is going much harder than the others, probably because although we don't want to admit it, we are getting older and less physically able to handle it. I tried to move a big box yesterday that almost took me over with it as it shifted in my grip. You should've heard the involuntary sound I made ... not to mention the totally voluntary swearing that immediately followed. Oh yes, DK is one cranky mover!

Thanks for this blog D.K. I can almost feel your pain. (OK, so that's hyperbole, but try to feel better as it was intended to make you feel.)

So our house is becoming due for reflooring. Whether to recarpet or tile -- that is the question. And while new flooring is far, far removed from rehousing, your tale of woe has me dreading it. Tile is great, but the thought of cold feet in winter sends shivers down me backside. Besides, I look funny in slippers. Carpeting would be nice, but it wears out eventually. Yet it does hide the dust better. But having to move everything and, the scariest thing of all, having to disconnect the computers, their peripherals and network is one huge nightmare. I'm not sure we could get it all back to working order.

I'm thinking maybe we'll just cover the old wall to wall carpet with sanitized sand. (I hate dirt.) It should hide the dust well, we won't have to tear out the old carpet (and move furniture), I can throw out the vacuum and just replace it with a rake?

Anyway, good luck to you. I really, no REALLY, appreciate what you're going through.

Hey D.K.Raed.

I know how you feel. I moved so many times that the last time I moved to my current address I still have a ton of junk that has never been unpacked.

Most of which should be thrown out by the way. One day I'll get up the strength to go through it and throw the majority away. But not today.

I pray your move goes smoothly and will check back at times.

Take care and ...

God Bless.

My post went to the ether! I'm sure it was witty & humorous all @ once, but damned if I can remember it a few days later.

So hope it goes well...
